Experience Mexico Through the Eyes of Artist
& Oaxaca Cultural Navigator Norma Hawthorne
For part of the year, my home is in Teotitlan del Valle, the famous Zapotec rug weaving village located about 18 miles southeast of Oaxaca City off the Pan American Highway 190. I have discovered great weaving, carving and textile families of the region -- some are “famous” and others are “off the beaten path” rarely visited by crowded tour buses and commission paid guides.

Here is a snippet video of the Danza de Flor de Pina, a traditional Mexican dance performed by students at the secondary school graduation in July 2008.
